Sushi or French food?

Post by Heather » Fri Jan 13, 2017 11:08 pm

TLDR: Would you rather have expensive sushi or french food?

Background: Once a year my husband and I got out to a super fancy meal ($100+ per person) instead of getting each other xmas or bday presents. Last year we went to Chez Panisse. This year we are thinking omakase (not sure where yet) or Gary Danko (French food).

What exactly do you mean by French food?

It would depend on tastes quite a bit, but comparing the menus of the two restaurants, I'd probably go sushi in this case, although there's heavy bias here since I prefer sushi over french cuisine. While sushi does cater more to my tastes, I would say Gary Danko seems to have a more refined atmosphere in my opinion from the images of the restaurants and from the food, and ordering food there may also be easier (or more difficult in another sense) since there seems to be a greater variety in tastes that can suit everyone. And they appear to have desserts. Desserts!

I've never had sushi before but I don't really like fish, let alone raw fish

I love me some criossants tho so probably french food.
I'd eat a baguette over a piece of tuna roll js
